Current Events
THE CHOIR has retired for the Long Vac, and today the singing is up to you. Some of our choristers will be with us through much of the summer, but when they are not here, go ahead and take the lead!
OUR PLEDGE TO RESTORE THE WAVERLY FIREHOUSE has been matched! A cheque for $1,000 has been received, and so a $2,000 cheque has been sent to the Firehouse Restoration Fund. Now we need to collect the balance of our pledged amount to back our cheque. So far we have collected $205. If every parishioner gave just $10 we would easily exceed our pledge. If you haven’t contributed, please do so NOW! The Firehouse reopened yesterday, and a community cook-out was held to celebrate the return of our firemen to our neighbourhood. Feel free to stop by 3123 Greenmount Avenue to welcome them home!
REMINDER: the Long Vac has begun. The Daily Offices are suspended after Evensong today until Mattins of Michaelmas Day, 29 September. During the Long Vac, there will be one Sunday service at 10.00 AM until the Sunday after Michaelmas, when we return to the regular schedule. (Therefore, service on 6 June and following will be at 10.00 AM.) Holy Days are celebrated on their respective days at 8.00 AM, unless otherwise noted.
SUMMER HOSPITALITY NEEDS TO BE PROVIDED! Can you help? Some cookies, a cool drink, and fresh coffee are all that is needed. Please sign up on the list in the Solarium to provide hospitality on a Sunday morning.
THE BETTER WAVERLY IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION, the Waverly Village community association, will be holding the Waverly Village Annual Picnic here on the church grounds this Saturday, 19 June between 12 noon and 3.00 PM. Food and drink are provided. It is important that members of the congregation be present to demonstrate our continuing involvement in the life of our community. Plan now to come and meet our neighbours. In addition, there is an ‘At Home’ at the Rectory that afternoon between 4.30 and 6.00 PM. Stop in for a glass of iced tea or lemonade and a “gnosh” while getting to know fellow worshipers, visitors, and new members better.
