Current Events
HOLY DAYS, are celebrated on their respective days with a said Holy Eucharist at 8.00 AM, unless noted otherwise.
REMINDER: PLEDGE CARDS ARE TO BE PRESENTED DURING THE DURING EPIPHANY-TIDE. Need a Pledge card? Pick one up from the table at the back of the church, or call the Church Office to have one sent to you.
WE HAVE NOT QUITE PAID FOR the Christmas greenery and flowers. We need everyone’s participation to pay our wonderful greens man and the florist.
THE FRANCISCAN CENTRE is collecting winter clothing, especially for men and children. Don’t you have something you aren’t using which you could contribute? Leave clean and folded contributions on the pews behind the Font, marked ‘Franciscan Centre’.
THE SEAFARERS CENTRE would like your used current general interest magazines, those many 2012 calendars you can’t use, and warm clothing for sailors– medium sized is most useful– in all sizes. Knit hats and warm gloves are also very welcome. Bibles, in any language, are always needed. Contributions should be bundled in small sturdy bags, as they will be hauled up ladders and gangways by older volunteers. Place contributions in the pews by the Font marked ‘Seafarers’.
THERE ARE STILL WINDOWS TO BE RESTORED. Work will begin in January on the great east and west windows, and in March on the transept rose window, but several windows remain unclaimed. Contributions to the general window fund are needed to push the project along, or someone could adopt one of the “orphan” windows. Please call the Church Office, 410.467.4793, and leave us a message if you need more information about the window restoration project. Someone will get back to you promptly.
ONE OF OUR CHORISTERS has become a military man! Dennys Moura , one of our tenors, has joined the Navy. We sent him off last evening at the Epiphany service with a solemn blessing and the promise of prayers for him until he returns. He is now on the parish Prayer List, which you are reminded to take home and use in your daily prayers. Godspeed, Dennys!

Saint John's policies about God's choices for weather:
For Sundays: 10.30 AM service is never cancelled; use best judgement. All other services and events cancel if the US Weather Service issues a severe storm warning (snow, ice, hurricane, tornado, etc), or calls for icy conditions for the time before or of the service/event. If the forecast is for an inch of snow or less we proceed.
For Saturdays: Except for the Great Vigil of Easter, all services and events cancel if the US Weather Service issues a severe storm warning (snow, ice, hurricane, tornado, etc), or calls for icy conditions for the time before or of the service/event. If the forecast is for an inch of snow or less we proceed.
For weekday services and events, except principal feasts, we follow the Baltimore City Schools. Morning services/events/classes: If the schools open late we cancel. Evening services/events/classes: If the schools close early we cancel.
Weekday Principal Feasts, at 6.30 PM, cancel if the US Weather Service issues a severe storm warning (snow, ice, hurricane, tornado, etc) for before or the time of the service/event. If the forecast is for an inch of snow or less we proceed.
In all cases, use your best judgement. The Rector lives next door, so major services will be held, but do not endanger yourself or others by heroic piety!
Choristers should contact the Master of the Choirs for accurate information.
